Wilo secures order for dozens of pumps for cooling system of a large Sydney data centre

October 27, 2026

Wilo Australia recently announced that it will provide support for a 350 MW large-scale data center project at Horsley Park in Sydney. The first batch of Wilo-Atmos GIGA-I vertical shaft pumps is now ready for shipment and will be dispatched from Wilo's ANZ headquarters in Brisbane.

This project is a key digital infrastructure initiative in New South Wales and serves as a benchmark computing infrastructure in Australia designed for AI computing power and large-scale cloud services. The project has a planned total IT capacity of 350 MW and a total technical data center area of 124,000 m², with a design that meets Tier IV standards; it will have direct connectivity to the 330 kV high-voltage power grid and will primarily support AI training and inference, large-scale cloud platforms, and government and enterprise managed computing services. With a total investment exceeding A$1.1 billion, the project is expected to be completed and commissioned by mid-2027. Once operational, the project will significantly strengthen computing power supply in western Sydney and support the expansion of the digital economy across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

For high-density computing facilities, the stability and energy efficiency of cooling systems are fundamental safeguards for the continuous and reliable operation of data centers. High-density server clusters continuously release heat, imposing stringent requirements on the continuous operating capacity, energy efficiency metrics, and operational and maintenance fault tolerance of chilled-water circulation systems. As the core component of the cooling system, circulation pumps directly influence the PUE control performance and long-term operational reliability of data centers.

This delivery constitutes a core supporting component of Phase I of the project. Wilo will supply 20 units of 45 kW and 20 units of 75 kW WiloAtmos GIGAI vertical pipeline pumps to serve the cooling infrastructure in this high-complexity engineering scenario. The pump units will be integrated into the data center's chilled-water cooling system, providing a stable water-circulation solution for thermal management of computing facilities, operating around the clock to dissipate heat from high-density server clusters, and aligning with the project's design objectives for high reliability, high energy efficiency, and low operating and maintenance costs.

The shipment of this equipment marks a significant milestone in Wilo's deep involvement in this benchmark project and further demonstrates the value of high-performance pumping equipment in the development of digital infrastructure. Wilo is honored to have become the preferred pump supplier for this landmark project and will continue to provide product and technical support services throughout the project's construction progress and in its subsequent phases.

Through deep collaboration with project owners, general contractors, and all participating parties, Wilo continues to deliver reliable, efficient, and intelligent integrated pumping solutions tailored to complex infrastructure scenarios, thereby empowering the high-quality development of global digital infrastructure and the digital economy.
